Qualification


TDK-Lambda DTC follows a rigorous Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology to develop and implement comprehensive test procedures for our products in customer applications. The goal is to provide 100% fault coverage by first designing in inherent performance, quality and reliability capabilities, and then follow this with manufacturing test procedures that ensure these same capabilities. Feedback from manufacturing and the customer is used to further improve the product.

Our test plan for new product introduction follows the stages of:

    • Mechanical dimension and ruggedness testing
    • Temperature profiling

  • Qualification

    The basis for this testing follows MIL standards recognized in the industry, and the extensive experience and expertise from our own technical team.

    In the initial stages of engineering validation and design verification, static and dynamic characterization over temperature provides data to help plan the test strategy for manufacture. A set of manufacturing test requirements is developed from this data to ensure conformance to data sheet requirements.

    Once in manufacture, monitoring is performed to check distributions using capability index margin testing, Cp and Cpk. Our objective is six-sigma conformance to requirements, and monitoring with feedback back to our design team enables us to check and watch for trends. Our test plan in manufacture includes 100% screening of room ambient testing, burn-in, hi pot insulation testing, and elevated temperature testing.

    Burn-in is closely monitored, and a process is enforced to increase burn-in time or hold product when results indicate possible reliability concerns.

    Further checking is done by obtaining feedback from our customers, and acting on any anomalous or failing field returns. Every customer return is analyzed for root cause, and a documented corrective action is provided. Based on this PDCA approach, TDK-Lambda DTC strives to deliver zero defects to our customers.
